Once again the great and the good of Chelmsford’s local music and arts scene descended on the Civic Theatre for the annual award show that recognizes a host of talented groups, individuals and companies.
The big winners of the night were Asylum who picked up no less than four awards, for Best Venue, Best Newcomer, Best Regular Night and Best Promoter, whilst the Midnight Barbers walked away with the coveted Best Band prize.
The presentation this year was slicker than ever, with a fantastic fast paced opening video package setting the tone for a show that flowed seamlessly between awards and live music.
All of the Best Band nominees played throughout the evening, with Best Solo Performer Paolo Morena also showcasing his looping skills after picking up his award.
Finally it was the Midnight Barber’s turn to round off the evening, before everybody was treated to this year’s bloopers – which The Lemoncurd Kid didn’t manage to avoid – despite his best efforts!
The sharpest production so far, combined with some worthy and also unexpected winners made this year’s awards one of the best so far, and as ever shined a light on so many of the people that help keep Chelmsford’s entertainment scene going.
To top it all off, money was raised for the wonderful J’s Hospice!
